Laurence Aëgerter’s 2024 tapestry, Weakness May Be Here, reflects themes that run throughout her work, such as memory, the passage of time, and human fragility. Weakness May Be Here depicts the landscape of a dawning day. Aëgerter incorporates elements from the archives of Het Museum van de Geest (Haarlem) as apparitions in a dream. The landscape comes from a Pietra paesina, a landscape stone formed by nature in which one can recognise a landscape. Weakness May Be Here was created in the wake of the monumental tapestry (Epic of the Mind). It is a Jacquard tapestry made with mohair yarns and phosphorescent yarns (glow-in-the-dark), among other materials. These yarns create latent images that reveal themselves in the dark.
