The Tank series marks Jeppesen’s ongoing expansion of photography into sculptural space. In these works, photography becomes fluid – both literally and metaphorically – challenging the idea of the image as something fixed or certain. Cyanotype-printed silk is suspended in glass tanks filled with mineral oil, creating delicate, atmospheric objects. The liquid environment distorts and refracts the silk, recalling the way objects appear altered under water: a metaphor for the instability of perception itself. The tanks explore ideas of preservation and dissolution, photographic abstraction, and the interplay between light, image, and materiality.
