We are delighted to invite you to the opening of Birds of Mexico City by Pieter Henket. The accompanying book, just recently launched, has already received significant international attention, with multiple press features highlighting the growing visibility and resonance of the series. We are very proud to now present this body of work in Amsterdam.

The evening opens at 18:00, followed by an artist talk at 19:00 with Pieter Henket, accompagnied by Justin Gaspar, the writer and editor who has worked closely with Pieter Henket on the book, and Harm van Liemt; curator and moderator who guides conversations at the intersection of contemporary photography, culture, and visual storytelling.

Together, they will discuss the making of the series, questions of identity and representation, and the collaborative process behind Birds of Mexico City
The conversation will be held in English.

Birds of Mexico City is a striking photographic series by Pieter Henket, portraying a generation in Mexico who are redefining gender, identity, and self-expression with remarkable courage and imagination. Created in close collaboration with stylist Chino Castilla, the works are set within a carefully constructed studio environment in Mexico City. This minimal, almost timeless setting allows each portrait to unfold with clarity and intimacy, drawing attention to the presence, gesture, and individuality of every subject.

Opening during Pride Month, the presentation gently aligns with wider conversations around visibility and freedom, while remaining focused on the deeply personal narratives at its core. The exhibition continues throughout the summer, extending into Pride Amsterdam as part of a broader cultural moment.
