16:00 - 17:00, EXHIBITION INTRODUCTION
BY GALLERY DIRECTOR CHRISTIANE HOEFERT
BILDHALLE AMSTERDAM, Singel 272 H
Within the context of Pride Amsterdam 2026, an Exhibition Introduction of Pieter Henket's solo show Birds of Mexico City will be held at Bildhalle Amsterdam. Gallery director Christiane Hoefert will introduce you to Birds of Mexico City, a photographic series in which a generation in Mexico is redefining gender, identity and self-expression. Created by Pieter Henket in collaboration with stylist Chino Castilla, the works were produced in a carefully constructed studio in Mexico City, resulting in intimate and timeless portraits.
The exhibition opens during Pride Month and touches on themes such as visibility and freedom. Henket shows how his subjects see themselves and wish to be seen. Through staging, light and costume, layered images emerge between identity, ritual and performance.
The series is part of Henket’s Birds project about freedom and authenticity.
