"April 2020. Die Coronavirus-Pandemie wütet. 
Der schweizerische Bundesrat hat den Bürgern empfohlen, zu Hause zu bleiben. Über 65jährige sind durch die schwere Atemwegsinfektion Covid-19 besonders gefährdet und sollen sich zum Schutz vor Ansteckung unbedingt isolieren. Diese "freiwillige" Quarantäne verschafft mir reichlich Zeit, in alten Negativen zu wühlen und nie vergrösserte Aufnahmen aus dem Archiv ans Licht zu holen.

So war ich 1978 vier Wochen in New York um Grossstadtimpressionen festzuhalten. Aber viele dieser Aufnahmen wurden nicht verwendet und schlummerten seither im Archiv. 1980 fotografierte ich zwei Wochen auf der Insel Kreta mit dem Ziel, das Buch GEPRIESEN SEI des griechischen Nobelpreisträgers Odysseas Elytis zu illustrieren. Aufnahmen, die ich nicht für Bildmontagen dieses Illustrationsauftrags brauchte, blieben all die Jahre unbeachtet. Das Gleiche geschah sowohl mit Fotos meiner Hollandreise 1977, als auch mit Aufnahmen freier Projekte in meiner Zeit als Reporter der Bildagentur BLACK STAR. 

Jetzt sind hunderte Negative gesichtet und gescannt. LATE DISCOVERIES zeigt eine Auswahl davon. Fotos, die mit Empfindungen, wie besinnlichen, romantischen, amüsanten, oder auch erotischen verbunden sind."

"April 2020. The coronavirus pandemic is raging.
The Swiss Federal Council has advised citizens to stay at home. People over the age of 65 are particularly at risk from the severe respiratory infection Covid-19 and should, as a matter of urgency, self-isolate to protect themselves from infection. This ‘voluntary’ quarantine gives me plenty of time to rummage through old negatives and bring never-before-enlarged photographs from the archive to light.

So, in 1978, I spent four weeks in New York capturing impressions of the city. But many of these photographs were never used and have been gathering dust in the archive ever since. In 1980, I spent two weeks photographing on the island of Crete with the aim of illustrating the book *GEPRIESEN SEI* by the Greek Nobel Prize winner Odysseas Elytis. Photographs that I did not need for the photomontages for this illustration commission remained unnoticed all these years. The same thing happened both with photos from my trip to the Netherlands in 1977 and with images from freelance projects during my time as a reporter for the BLACK STAR photo agency.

Hundreds of negatives have now been sorted through and scanned. LATE DISCOVERIES presents a selection of these. Photographs that evoke feelings such as contemplation, romance, amusement or even eroticism."
