Jeroen Hofman is known for his distinctive views of landscapes and public spaces, photographed from elevated platforms. This shift in viewpoint changes the scale of the scene, revealing patterns, structures and relationships between people and their surroundings.
In his latest series, Remnants (2025-ongoing), Hofman photographs mountain landscapes that he has kept returning to since childhood. Taking time to absorb each scene, he observes how these places change over time and considers not only the traces people leave upon them, but also those the landscapes, in turn, leave in our minds and memories. From his characteristic elevated perspective, the mountains become quiet, almost abstract compositions in which human presence is subtle, yet never entirely absent.
