Douglas Mandry collects pieces of glacial ice from different locations and inserts them into a self-made large-format camera obscura containing photosensitive paper.
Through specifically designed apertures in the wooden camera, light passes through the ice and is projected directly onto the paper.
As the ice gradually melts, it leaves a trace on the photosensitive paper, which is developed in the darkroom, sometimes several days later. In this way, the process of disappearance itself is recorded photographically.
